Your Guide To Scoring Tickets To The 2019 Masters

THE RULES OF SCORING MASTERS TICKETS

The Masters is the greatest golf tournament in the world and one of sports most exclusive events. It's also one of the most sought after tickets in the world, and it's also one of the most complicated tickets to get. So this week we wanted to share a few tips for scoring Masters tickets.

1. Be Prepared To Spend
Bobby Jones vision for The Masters was to make the event a great value for visitors. The folks at Augusta National have stayed true to this face value for the Monday-Wednesday practice rounds is $75 per day, and a four-day tournament badge goes for $375, or $93.75 per day. Unfortunately unless you win tickets in the lottery you will never get them for that cheap. Generally speaking you are going to spend over $600 for a practice round and $1200 per day on the tournament. It's just the way it is.

2. Don't Show Up Without A Plan For Tickets
Those hawking Masters tickets on Washington Road are going to GOUGE you really hard. If you show up in Augusta without tickets plan on paying double whatever your friends did online. If you want to attend, buy your tickets online from a reputable secondary market broker.

3. The Weather Really Affects Prices
A crummy forecast can drop secondary-market ticket prices to around $500 for day pass. If you see forecasted rain during Masters week it's a good time to buy.

4. The Build Up Matters
Last year, when Tiger Woods announced he was playing prices jumped by 30%. If Phil Mickelson or Ricky Fowler are playing hot leading up to Augusta, ticket prices are going up. On the flip side if you want to go and notice a few big names dropping out, it's a good time to buy tickets.
5. The Day Of The Tournament Matters
Thursday is  generally the most sought-after ticket, because spectators are excited about the first round and are wary of not seeing players who miss the cut. Sunday tends to be cheapest because many fans prefer to watch the final round on TV or must return home for work Monday.
Even if Tiger Woods is on or near the top of the leaderboard, weekend prices likely won’t surge because the Masters “geographically undesirable,” a two-plus-hour drive from the Atlanta airport. Plus most flights are booked. A few people might drive in from Atlanta or Charlotte, but people won’t be flying in from New York or Chicago for the final round.
6. Understand The Badge Rules
Augusta National limits the number of badges they make for each day. If you are going to attend a single day of The Masters you have to return the badge that night or you will get fined heavily. Generally its's double what you paid for the day OR return it. We once heard of a guy driving back from Charlotte to avoid paying the hefty fee.

The other important thing to know is that if you get kicked out the badge owner gets it taken away for life. If that happens you are going to get fined, a lot. In 10 years we've only heard of it happening once. A guy screamed at Freddie Couples, and the (badge holder) lost it forever and the individual got fined 10k.

If going to Augusta is on your bucket list make sure you are considering all these things when buying. If you are interested in tickets and need help reach out. We would be happy to be ticket concierge.
