The Summer Music Festival Survival Guide

A few weeks ago we named our favorite Summer Music Festivals of 2017 and today we are back with a guide to help you survive at said festivals after you get a super great deal on tickets from takemeoutonline.com.

Why the guide you ask?

Music Festivals are like being in a different country. The bathrooms are dirty and your experience hinges on the fortitude of your moral compass. There are rules! There are social norms! There are people who abide by neither of them!
Navigating these magical playgrounds isn’t always easy.  Whether its a week-long music marathon or your friend DJing at a yard sale, here are some pointers to help you navigate your chosen fest:

Getting There

When they say, "Join the carpool with your friends and be entered to win cool prizes!" what they really mean is "Parking will be a hassle, so please bring as few cars as possible. (We're begging you.)" Our advice...listen to them! Uber, Car Pool or Public Transportation it will save you so much stress.

Understanding The Cost

"That will be $5.50" means "We have a monopoly on bottled water."
"Cash Only" means "The government will never know you ate a $14 taco."

It's expensive too drink warm beer and eat funnel cakes at music festivals Make sure you come armed with spending power.

Line Etiquette

"I'm just looking for my friend" means "I'm cutting this line." Everyone knows what you are up to, so make sure you are sweet when you say it.

Crowd Etiquette

Short People Take Note: Tall people can’t help their tallness.
Tall People Take Note: Shorter people apologize for sighing loudly in between songs and making faces at you.

It's a festival. Just be cool man!

Lookup

Festivals are crowded. Walking around staring at your phone is dangerous. Be aware of what you are doing at a festival and you may save someone else some stress.

Rain Or Shine

Most festivals are rain or shine. Look at the weather ahead of time and prepare accordingly.

Make The Most Of Your Time

Most festivals have at least 25-50 different artists playing each day. It would be nearly impossible to see all of them. We recommend checking out the Spotify playlists of all of the bands playing at said festival beforehand. Go listen to the artists that will be playing and figure out who you like ahead of time and make a plan of who you need to see.

Stick With Beer

Just because the festival's alcohol vendors are offering a Moscow Mule doesn't mean you should order it. The $17 drink will bankrupt you quick, generally has less alcohol than a beer and finally that Moscow Mule holds the line-up and makes everyone mad at you.

Splurge For VIP If You Can

Festival VIP areas have gotten pretty luxurious. Generally they have an amazing view of the stages, private air conditioned bathrooms, shaded relaxation areas, the "nice" food vendors and many of them also offer you free beer and wine. It is well worth the price.

The Common Sense Stuff

Remember to bring sunscreen. Remember to drink water. Bring earplugs. Make a planned time and place to meet friends ahead of time (festivals have bad phone reception). Be nice to people. All of this stuff will go a long way.
